Urartu avoided defeat in the final minutes

In the central match of the opening round of the Armenian Premier League, Urartu hosted Pyunik. The teams failed to determine the winner in a high-scoring encounter, with the match ending in a 2:2 draw.

In the 7th minute, Iman Griffith put the visitors ahead, scoring his first goal for his new club. In the 69th minute, Gevorg Tarakhchyan doubled Pyunik’s lead. During stoppage time, Pyunik’s Mykhail Kovalenko received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Taking advantage of their numerical superiority, Urartu managed to erase the two-goal deficit. Mikael Mirzoyan reduced the gap, while Nikolaos Kainourgios scored an own goal to level the score.
